I discovered recently that you can provide feedback to Google regarding their maps.
In my case, it was regarding their bike route option. There were several bike paths in my area that were not marked as bike paths. This means that the suggested route that Google provides doesn't take into account the shorter possible routes via these bike paths.
Their biking directions feature is still in Beta which is maybe why feedback can be provided. But in all the situations that I sent in a report to them, they emailed me back saying "You're Right" and that they'll update the maps.
I still haven't seen any of the updates yet though...
