How to extract the audio from a YouTube video into iTunes
- Use Firefox with "Download Helper" add-on installed
- Go to the page with the video on it
- Use "Download Helper" to save the file in "medium" size and mp4 format
- Once it's downloaded, open it using VLC (I used version 2.0.8)
- In VLC, choose File->Stream->Transcode file
- Choose only the audio to transcode (ie: not the video) and choose "uncompressed, integer"
- Choose WAV for encapsulation (there's no other choice)
- Select the location (I usually use the same location as the original with the .wav extension)
- Once it's done, open iTunes and add the .wav file to your library
- It will convert it to iTunes format.
